Vaccinating your pet against infectious disease is one of the most important aspect of pet health care.
Proper pet vaccination can spare your pets from such potentially deadly diseases as Rabies, Distemper, and Feline Leukemia.
What kind of vaccination should be given to a puppy?
Puppies need a vaccine to prevent four common viral disease; distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza and parvovirus (DAPP). This vaccine should be given 2 or 3 time until they reach 4 months or age.
Then rabies vaccination should be given when they are 4 months or older. There are two other vaccinations against leptospira and bordetella which are given based on a dog activity.

What kind of pet vaccination should be given to a kitten?
Kittens need a vaccine to prevent three common viral disease; rhinotracheitis, calici and panleukopenia ( FvRCP) . This vaccine should be given 2 or 3 time until they reach 4 months or age.
Then rabies pet vaccination should be given when they are 4 months or older. It is highly recommended to give leukemia vaccination to all kittens who are adopted from a shelter or there is no history of their mother vaccination.

What type of pet vaccination an adult dog (or an adult cat) needs?
Vaccines clearly represent one of the best health care values for animals. Yet, it is inappropriate to assume that every dog (and every cat) should be inoculated annually against each of the infection for which a vaccine is licensed.
Pet vaccination requires a medical decision based on reasonable knowledge of the patient’s risk of exposure, life style, and stage of life.
Types of vaccines:
Distemper vaccine
Attacks the respiratory system and nervous system, and if not treated, it can cause serious damage, and even death.
Parvo Virus
Attacks the intestinal system and can cause vomiting and diarrhea, so severe that it can be fatal. This disease is preventable with proper vaccines.
Leptospirosis
Affects the kidneys and liver and can cause severe pain and suffering.
Rabies
Infects the central nervous system, ultimately causing disease in the brain and death.
Bordetella (or kennel cough)
Targets the trachea and bronchi and is commonly diagnosed by a dry cough. It is similar to whooping cough in kids, but not contagious to people, luckily.
